Favorite duos and sunny days

I'm pretty bias, but these two really are my favorite duo. I've known Emily ever since my sister and I arrived in Canada, and we coincidentally went to the same high school. She's witnessed all my ridiculous hair styles and that time I used to wear pink socks and blue converse, and we've pretty much made a pact to be homegirls until our bones are no more.

It's hard for me to feel genuinely comfortable with people, or where my level of sass and cynicism is understood, but I definitely feel at ease and pressure free with these two. They've got hearts of gold, the power to make someone choke on their food due to their hilarious selves, and I love them a whole damn lot.

Light and shadow and everything else

I've been thinking a lot lately about being intentional with your craft and relations and life in general. I've been taking less photos just because I find it doesn't serve the same purpose for me as it used to, and now I'm thinking about ways to re-invent the way I use photography, as a means of story telling alongside everything else I portray. A means to expand my aesthetic and be intentional as to how I choose to brand myself.

I think I'm just learning how to be more genuine and true to my present taste and as I change and grow over the years, to carry the same soul throughout every season. The wonderful thing about sharing stories and sharing yourself is that you can choose the medium, the way you approach it, and all the details will weave into other people's stories. We have the power to move and be moved.

------------------------------------------------------

I just came back from a 2 month trip out west and I didn't take many larger scale photographs, but I did take a couple shots in the bathroom of the apartment we were staying at, and the light was interesting and Monica killed it.

Tis the season to be smokin

Michelle, Nicolette, Melody, and I decided to experiment with smoke effects. These photos were more of a test shoot for further photo ideas, and the smoke only lasted for a few minutes (and had a horrible scent) but we managed to get a few interesting shots out of it. As well as frozen hands, feet, and everything else which further resulted in a sauna party in the car.

Prince Edward County

I think it's fairly easy to worry about the next door to walk through, and what our lives will look like in a few years, and the desire of leaving an important piece of ourselves behind.

I think it's normal to want to reflect a piece of ourselves in everything we do, and leave traces in everyone we meet - to relate, to inspire. I find it hard to live in a part of the world that is so success and 'dream' driven. I wholeheartedly believe in pursuing things, ideas, and a lifestyle that any and everyone wants to see come to life, but the process and the present is so much more significant than the end result. Who you invest in, what you invest yourself in, how you're building the foundations of your home - I think in the long run, that's what matters.

I want to create and be selfless in all that I do, and to accomplish the vision I have for my life, it's going to take lots of work. But I don't want my foundation to rest in the future, because I know that a garden won't grow unless the soil is firm and taken care of. And even if the vision for my life was taken from me, I'm learning that's okay too. There is meaning in the little, the big, and every inch in between.

Walkers

I always enjoy being able to spend time and collaborate on ideas with Sarah of The Curated House. This is the second year I photographed photos of her family, and although it was a cold day, I truly did enjoy every second. Knowing tidbits of this family's story, they always leave me inspired (and often times laughing). Thank you for letting me capture a glimpse of your world.
